No season of I'm A Celeb will ever match Katie Price and Peter Andre falling in love

ICONIC.

I’M A CELEBRITY… Get Me Out of Here started up again last Sunday and, thanks to contestants like Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffatt, it’s been very eventful so far.

But there’s one that will continue to be the hallmark against which all I’m A Celebrity seasons are judged: Season 3, in 2004.

It featured such luminaries as Jennie Bond, Alex Best, And Lord Charles Brocket – yeah, us neither – but the real stars were Kerry Katona, Katie Price, Peter Andre and John Lydon (AKA Johnny Rotten).

It was iconic television, and will never be matched. Here’s why.

John Lydon being there at all

The lead singer of the Sex Pistols and one of the faces of the UK’s punk scene, taking part in I’m A Celebrity? But yes. It happened.

As it turns out, Lydon didn’t much like being in the jungle. His outburst came when the public failed to vote him out, and walked out of his own accord shortly after.

We’ve become used to celebrities eating witchety grubs and cockroaches by now, but in 2004, this was scandalous.

Can you blame her?

Katie Price and Peter Andre’s ridiculously cringey flirting

Katie had a boyfriend outside the jungle, but that didn’t stop the play-fighting, the leading questions, the extremely thorough tick-checking… Get a room, you two.

A love that spawned two children, endless tabloid headlines, and a truly woejus cover of A Whole New World.

And Peter composing what became the greatest song of all time, Insania

“It’s like ‘insane’ and ‘mania’ stuck together.” Andre, you visionary.

Will I’m A Celeb ever be this great again? Doubt it. Katie and Peter 4eva <3
